New Bales
by Camille Olsen on 7/25/2011 5:24:01 PM

12 x 16 oil on panel, plein air, $125

I painted this 12 x 16 oil en plein air a few months ago.   Previously I included the fence that was there, and today I took it out because I thought it detracted from the openness of the scene.   I had read recently that one should not 'fence out' the viewer and I decided that was good advice.   The glory of that vast expanse of field was so invigorating (also the cool breezes that were whipped up by an approaching storm contributed to the mood)... I felt like I should hear Fanfare for the Common Man any second.   I was so thrilled also to use my new plein air easel I had *just* gotten.  Perfect timing!  :0)

I keep studying that cut field, Camille. I'm just so drawn in by your colors and brush strokes and in the field, I am reminded of a softer Van Gogh. A wonderful impressionism to it. So lovely!

Camille, what a refreshing painting. Nice, warm textured colors in "New Bales" complimented by the soft clouds in the light blue sky.

Hi Camille! Love the New Bales painting. Would love to get it for my father if it is still available. He has a ranch in Paris, Tx and it looks like that in some of his fields. He will be 90 in December and still rides his "Bobcat".

KK, wouldn't you know that someone already bought this one? Darn it. Well, maybe one of these days I'll make a 'sister painting' to this one that you'd like as well or more. It makes me happy you wanted to buy it though and thanks for letting me know! XO Love, Camille
